--> 2005-02-18: Tracker is alive!
       Now we're on Eldirnet.
       Still need a dedicated tracker, but
       this will do for now.

--> 2005-02-14 Announcement

How to (for Windows)

Get Firefox
Or stick with dumb ol' Internet explorer, it shouldn't really matter. But Firefox is recommended, and the only tested solution.
Get ABC
(Yet) Another BitTorrent Client. It's a nice little Python + wxPython client, prettier and slightly more useful than the original client. Kinda looks like Kazaa.
Install them
In that order, browser, then client, then close and restart your browser. We'll wait.
Click on .torrent links
If all went well, Firefox will have associated .torrent files with your BitTorrent client, and when you click on .torrent links, you ought to get a dialoge box along these lines:

If it didn't work, well, ask Google. Common problems:

  • Our tracker is down. This is our fault, not yours. Try back in a few hours. (Working on this right now, as a matter of fact.)
  • Your (or our) file associations are messed up. In this case, just select your BitTorrent client from the "Open with.." dialoge, or just download the .torrent file and double-click on it.
  • Your firewall (maybe a cable router or software firewall) and proxy needs to allow outbound TCP connections to funny ports (namely: TCP/6969, TCP/8090, and TCP/6899-6909).
  • Mutated Ethersquirrels have chewed through your Internet connection.

How to (for Linux/BSD)

You're smart enough to be using the Leenux, so clearly you're more elite than this page can hope to help. If you really can't figure it out, here are some hints: ABC works, and the MIME content type is "application/x-bittorrent".

Why you should care

Some inflated treatsie on why BitTorrent is good for the world in general, and good for the SubGenius in particular, will go here. But honestly, others have already written very eloquently about this.

Here's the jist: If the Faithful (and the Face-Full) buy into this scheme for distributing the word of "Bob", SubGenius radio shows will have a shot at being the most-listened too AND most cheaply-produced hours of sanctimonious self-serving advertising vehicles ever -- all for barely any work or money at all. And that means CASH CASH CASH for "Bob" Dobbs, while at the same time, WORLD-WIDE SLACK.

Thanx and Greetz

Thanks to the Rev. Ivan Stang for Blessing this great undertaking, to WREK Radio in Atlanta and WCSB in Cleveland for running the most Slackful shows in the universe, old-skool style (over actual air!), and ESPECIALLY to Rev. David Bachner for encoding all this crap in the first place. Alsos: alt.slack.fux for show synopses, Bram Cohen for BitTorrent (give him money!), subgenius@yahoogroups.com for sticking to it, and everyone involved in every SubGenius project ever, no matter how ill-considered, thankless, suicidal, expensive, uncool, or retarded.

We have no idea if this page renders right in anything other than Mozilla Firefox.
